Girls Softball Chanuka Tournament- Gezer 2021- Winners!!!

During Chanuka, The Softball Girls (9th, and 10th Graders) of Bet Shemesh entered a Chanuka tournament against the Girls of Misgav and the Girls of Gezer, at Gezer Field.

Head Coach Joe Berg, and assistants Coach, Tzipora Kralik, and myself led them to a hard earned victorious tournament.

This is the 2nd year with the girls and if your daughter or you are not part of our winning team you may not want to be missing out.

The recap by amazing Head Coach Joe Berg for game 1:

Rays vs Misgav @ Kibbutz Gezer
Todays game was an instant classic. With winds howling and ominous rain clouds in the distance the Rays approached the menacing pitching machine for the first time. A barage of hits with aggressive running would net 3 runs in the top of the first. The second inning would be similar with the lady Rays hitting the ball with regularity plating another 3 runs. Misgav, a formadable foe would take the lead with 3 in the 1st and 4 more in the 2nd. In the 3rd the machine got the better of the players recording a scoreless inning. The 4th and final inning would reveal the true grit and character of the dedicated ladies of Bet Shemesh. Trailing by one run, Tamar got things started with a single. Two productive fielders choices by Aliza and Shoshi would move the tying run to third. Then with two outs the Hannukah miracle began. Consecutive hits by Aderet, Devorah, Ayelet, Leora, Atara and Michaella plated the tying and go ahead runs.
Misgav would mount a fierce comeback in the bottom half of the final inning. With their strongest hitter standing in and representing the winning run The Rays defense came to the rescue extinguishing the final flame of hope as Aderet fought the powerfull winds to haul in a fly ball and flip to Eliana covering 1st for a rally stifling double play. One out later the Rays could proudly enjoy an 8-7 win much the same way children throughout Israel enjoyed the festival of lights this holiday season. All that remains are the unanswered questions, Did the players grow and get better today and did they have fun? All four sides of the driedel spell Yes!!!  Congrats, KADIMA
